“Hungry Chickadee”

Chickadees: I can’t help but be enchanted by them! It’s simply delightful when they flutter around my bird feeder while I happily observe from a cozy, sunlit window.

This hungry chickadee came to my bird feeder in the middle of February in 2023. It was during a time when I was very focused on painting. I usually have an open invitation to visit family in Florida but I was so hard set on “getting work done” that I intentionally hid myself away and painted all winter in our quiet cabin in the Lost River Valley of West Virginia. I promised myself that if the weather began to turn nasty, I would pack up my dogs, my paints and myself and make the long drive to Florida to overwinter properly.

Well the weather held out and it was so mild that the flocks of chickadees stood their ground with me; so long as I fed them. Thank goodness! These little fuzzballs always make me smile.

Here, I share a watercolor painting of a chickadee swooping in for a landing on our back yard bird feeder. He has his wings spread wide as he uses the air to cushion his descent. I am selling this print on a 12×12 print or a 5×5 miniature.
